MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION

You too can learn how to grow exotic orchids in your own environment by joining the Orchid Society of California. The society has programs for the rank beginner to the Veteran orchid hobbyist.

If you have acquired a few orchids and you would like to learn how to successfully grow and bloom them, the Orchid Society of California is inviting you to join them at their next meeting, held on the third Monday of the month at Lakeside Garden Center located at 666 Bellevue Drive by Lake Merritt, Oakland, California at 7:30 p.m.

The Society conducts interesting and informative orchid culture demonstrations (skill sessions) at their monthly meetings which teach the members how to repot and divide orchids, how to water & fertilize, climatic requirements of different varieties of orchids, etc. Orchid Culture sessions are held from 7:00 to 7:30 p.m.

The society also organizes hands-on potting sessions in the homes and greenhouses of Veteran growers.

In addition to 'hands-on' orchid culture sessions, the Orchid Society of California, at their monthly meetings, presents a guest speaker who generally gives a slide program on a certain variety of orchids or of an exotic orchid trip to a country where orchids grow in their natural habitat. Speakers are invited from every part of the World.

TheOrchid Society of California prides itself in the great variety of blooming orchids brought to the meetings by its members for 'Show and Tell'.

After becoming a member, you will be mailed a monthly news letter informing you about future programs and activities of the Society such as, culture sessions, greenhouse tours, shows & sales, etc.
